The Exodus narrative is one of the most foundational stories in Jewish tradition, recounting Israel's liberation from slavery in Egypt through divine intervention. God sent ten plagues to demonstrate His power and force Pharaoh to release the Israelites. The final plague, the death of the firstborn, led to Israel's freedom, marked by the institution of Passover.
